Products Question

FIBC bags are big size bags used for transportation and storage of powders or flakes or other products which can freely flow. Bulk bags are usually manufactured from woven polypropylene. The dimensions of the bags can be customised according to the customer’s needs. The bags typically hold about 500 – 2000 KG of material. The use of Bulk Bags makes the handling of material very easy as the filled bags can be put on pallets or can be lifted by forklifts through loops of the bags.

The most common material used in FIBC construction is 100% virgin polypropylene, petroleum based product which is a tough relatively inert thermoplastic.

1. Flexibility

Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers / Bulk Bags are an extremely flexible bulk packaging option and being tailor made, can easily be customized to adapt to your specific product/material and application. With a large range of Safe Working Load (SWL) ranging from 500 – 2000 Kilograms, with different filling and discharging/emptying options and easiness in transportation and storage of different materials (even Food Materials), Bulk Bags are a very good solution for.

2. Easy to fill and discharge

It is very easy to incorporate the use of FIBCs / Bulk bags into your current operations with various filling and emptying/discharging options. Filling/top options include but are not limited to flap top, Duffle / skirt top, filling spout and an open top. Discharge/emptying options include but are not limited to discharge spout, discharge spout with petal or pyjama closure, and discharge spout with bottom flap.

3. Bulk Bags are Environmentally friendly

All our bags are made from 100% virgin polypropylene, which is a common plastic that can be re-processed into other plastic products. Most of the bags are suitable for recycling including those used to transport / store building materials, chemicals, food grains, Even the Bulk Bags can be used multiple times, Bags with a safety factor ratio of 6:1 are specifically designed for multiple uses.

4. Bulk Bags are Cost effective

Flexible intermediate bulk containers / Bulk Bags are a more economical bulk packaging solution compared to other options. Not only are they economical to purchase but empty bags are also economical to ship as they are extremely lightweight compared to the Apart from their affordable price, storage of empty bags is also easy. Emptied bags can easily be folded into a small volume / size saving you valuable warehouse space which ultimately is more economical on your business.

5. Fast and easy to transport

Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers / Bulk Bags have a variety of lifting options and can easily be customized to fit the filling and transportation equipment you already have at your facility. Various lifting options such as Corner Loops, Edge corner loops, Cross corner loops, Stevedore loops etc., makes it very easy to design the bag that will work on your existing equipment such as forklift, hoist or crane.

Bulk Bags are tailor-made products and can be customised to suit the need of the customer depending upon the type of material to be filled in the bag and the equipment being used to fill the stuff inside the bag. If you have questions about the sizes, let the experts help you.

It merely means that the Bag is tested to hold five times the amount of material of the Safe working load.

  • The Certification term 5:1 ‘Single Trip’ relates to bags being tested to the following standards
  • The bag is tested by having 30 cycles of the bag being filled to twice the safe working load.
  • Then the bag is tested to destruction. In order to gain a 5:1 certificate the bag mustn’t fail before 5000Kg
  • 5:1 ‘Single trip’ is An FIBC that is designed to be filled once, this bag is not to be refilled after use.
  • There are no set amount of lifts an FIBC can or can’t take. It is advised that before each lift all the bags & loops are inspected for damage.
  • The Certification term 6:1 ‘Multi Trip’ relates to bags being tested to the following standards
  • The bag is tested by having 70 cycles of the bag being filled to four times the safe working load.
  • Then the bag is tested to destruction in order to gain a 6:1 certificate the bag mustn’t fail before 6000Kg
  • 6:1 ‘Multi trip’ is an FIBC that is capable of being refilled after use. There are no set amount of lifts a 6:1 ‘Multi Trip’ FIBC can or can’t take. It is advised that before each lift all the bags & loops are inspected for damage.
  • As the name suggests, it is a sleeve-like opening that fits the hopper, and the material can be filled in the bag. It is usually 35-40 cm in Dia and 50 cm long. The dimensions can be customised depending upon the needs of the customer. It is helping in minimising the dust while the material is being filled.

  • An open top bag does not have any closure on the top. The filled material is exposed. The duffle top, also known as a top skirt is the closure on the top part of the bag.

Sift proofing the stitching of the bag, prevent the material from leaking out from the bag. While the bulk bags are stitched, the needle of the machine punch in the holes in the fabric. In case the material to be filled in the bag is very fine material, it may leak from these holes. To prevent this sifting or leaking of material, a fluffy/spongy rope is stitched along with the threads to close these holes and thereby prevent leaking.

as Petal or Duffle Closure. It is done in such a way as to protect the material from inside the bag to leak out of the discharge spout. we can design your discharge spout size and closure for your specific need.

The polypropylene fabric comes in a wide range of weights from 140 GSM to 220 GSM. The weight of the fabric to be used in the bag depends upon its SWL and bag dimensions. Please get in touch with one of our reps to design a bag for your needs.

You can opt to put a liner on your FIBCs as they can offer antistatic properties to your containers. Apart from reducing static, they also offer another layer of barrier or protection, keeping the stored materials away from oxygen, moisture and UV.

The coating that gives coated FIBCs their name is a layer of polypropylene that might be present on the interior or exterior of the bag. Coated FIBCs are also called non-breathable containers and are better for storing and transporting products that need to be protected from moisture.

When properly filled with most products, FIBCs can be stacked in a warehouse 2 or 3 high. The stability and height of the stack is dependent on the product together with the handling equipment available. It may be preferable to stack ‘pyramid’ style depending on the stability of the product itself. Please make sure you consult your bulk bag representative when discussing bulk bag stacking.

For finer dry products and powders, we can offer a specially designed coated bag with sift proof seam or insert a special liner that will prevent any leakage.

Yes, usually the Bulk Bags with a safety factor of 6:1 or above may be reused. These are also called Multi-Trip Bags. The number of times a bag has been used is usually monitored, and the condition of the bag has to be inspected after each use to ensure that the bag is not damaged and safe to use. However, this may be dangerous because bags can get damaged while in use and decrease their life expectancy.

Yes, however you must use a special lifting device or loops specifically designed for a crane lift. You must follow the correct manufacturer recommendations when lifting a bulk bag.

Yes, the Bulk Bags can be printed according to the requirement of the customer. We can quickly reproduce the customer’s logo and other requirements up to four colours. Please get in touch with one of our team to know the additional costs and lead times of getting a printed bag.

Baffles are panels of fabric sewn in the corners of Baffle Bags so that to maintain the shape of the bag the in cube form after being filled. The Baffle Panels have got holes that allow the material to flow through them into the corners of the bag freely.

.

Perimeter Belt provides extra strength to the loops of the bags when they are lifted. It is a webbing that is sewn on the top part of the bag.

.

B-lock is an accessory of the bag which helps in regulating the flow of product while it is being discharged manually through the discharge spout.

.

It is a unique masterbatch that is added to the resin during the extrusion of tapes. It protects the bag against the harmful effects of UV rays from the sun, hence protecting the bag from degrading and losing its strength, becoming unstable and unsafe to use.

A bag with full open bottom also known as a full bottom discharge bag has a bottom flap that covers the entire bottom opening on the bag. To discharge the bag, the bottom flap is untied, and the material is released quickly. This type of bag is used when the material tends to bridge or cake while being discharged.

Most common designs of FIBCs have a very long shelf life of more than 2 years. However, the common construction materials used in the production of FIBCs do have the potential to exhibit creep or stress relaxation over time. This means that the packages may not act as originally designed if stored for very long times or if they are exposed to more harsh storage environments with elevated temperatures, humidity swings, etc.

Generally, if the material is filled manually or from a conveyor, an open top or a skirt top is preferred. If the material is directly filled from a chute, a spout is suggested.

While Discharging, the construction of the bottom is to be decided based on the flow characteristics of the material. By having a spout at the bottom the flow of the material can be controlled.

Empty FIBC should be stored in a manner that accidental damage, exposure to sunlight, extreme climatic conditions and harmful substance are avoided. Top Closures of filled FIBC should be closed properly before storage. Except for FIBCs which have been specially designed for outdoor storage, all FIBC stored outdoor should be sheeted over to prevent water collection on top of FIBC and to avoid any contamination of Material.

There are two basic types of liners that can be added to the FIBCs. These are: Tubular Liners: These are sometimes heat sealed to the base of the container and are made in the form of a straight cylinder, without any contours or sprouts.

Form-Fit: As the name suggests, these liners are designed so that they take the shape of the container that they are placed in. This means that you will get the complete usage of the space, enhancing both the filling and the discharge process

Typically documents are attached by use of a document pouch, which is usually a 10×12 polyethylene bag sewn to the seam of the bulk bag. A document pouch can have ziplock opening, or a standard opening and can be sewn where the users prefers.

FIBC bags can be waterproof with the correct polyethylene or polypropylene liner inside the FIBC.  You can make the bags to be fully waterproof by sealing the liner once the product is loaded.  This is essentially a plastic bag inside the FIBC which will keep water from penetrating the product being transported.

We can offer a larger diameter discharge spout, which will assist discharging or even full bottom opening bag.
